Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using this website or placing an order. By accessing or using this website, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and all applicable South African laws, including but not limited to the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA), the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA), and the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use this website.


1. About Us

The Cats Mao is an online retailer operating from Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, under the AOS Projects business banner.

The Cats Mao is currently not registered for Value Added Tax (VAT). VAT is therefore not charged separately on purchases unless expressly stated otherwise.

3. Pricing and Orders

All prices displayed on this website are in South African Rand (ZAR). While every effort is made to ensure that product information and pricing is accurate and up to date, errors may occasionally occur. The Cats Mao reserves the right to correct any pricing errors and to cancel or refuse orders where such errors exist.

Before your order is confirmed, you will be given the opportunity to review your entire order, correct any mistakes, and withdraw before final payment is made, as required by Section 43(2) of ECTA.

Your order constitutes an offer to purchase. We reserve the right to accept or decline any order for any lawful reason, including but not limited to:

  • Product unavailability
  • Pricing errors
  • Suspected fraud or misuse
  • Payment verification failure

If we cannot fulfil your order, we will notify you promptly and issue a full refund within 30 days.


4. Consumer Rights and Statutory Protections

Nothing in these Terms of Service limits, waives, or excludes any rights afforded to you as a consumer under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002, or any other applicable South African consumer protection legislation.

In particular:

  • You have the right to receive goods that are safe, of good quality, and reasonably suitable for their intended purpose (CPA Section 55)
  • You have the right to return defective goods within 6 months of delivery (CPA Section 56)
  • You have the right to cancel an electronic transaction within 7 days of receipt of goods (ECTA Section 44)
  • You have the right to have your order fulfilled within 30 days of placement, unless otherwise agreed (ECTA Section 46)

5. Product Information

Product images and descriptions are provided for illustrative purposes only. While we strive for accuracy, minor variations in colour, packaging, dimensions, or materials may occur. Such variations do not constitute a defect.


6. Intellectual Property

This website and all content contained within it, including but not limited to text, images, graphics, logos, and branding, remain the intellectual property of The Cats Mao and may not be copied, reproduced, distributed, or used for any commercial purpose without our prior written permission.


7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, The Cats Mao's liability to you in connection with any order or use of this website is limited to the purchase price of the goods in question. We are not liable for any indirect, special, consequential, or punitive loss or damage, including but not limited to loss of income, data, or opportunity.

This limitation does not apply in cases of gross negligence, wilful misconduct, or where it would contravene the Consumer Protection Act or any other applicable law.


8. Force Majeure

We will not be held in breach of these Terms or liable for any delay or failure in performance arising from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to load-shedding, power outages, natural disasters, pandemics, courier disruptions, or civil unrest.


9. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute arising from or in connection with these terms shall first be referred to good faith negotiation between the parties. If unresolved, disputes may be referred to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (CGSO) at www.cgso.org.za, or to the relevant South African court of competent jurisdiction.


10. Amendments

We reserve the right to update or amend these Terms of Service at any time. Updated terms will be published on this website with a revised effective date. Continued use of the website following any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
